People who suffer from acne often, must take care of their skin in order to improve the condition. To prevent acne you must learn and develop certain healthy and good habits like maintaining clean skin, getting enough sleep and reducing mental stress. Following are 7 daily tips to prevent acne.
1.Clean the Face:Wash your face twice a day. This is very essential to fight acne. Use a facial wash and water to clean the face. You may also use soaps with benzoyl peroxide too if they do not dry your skin. Allow your skin to dry completely prior to the application of acne treatments. Clean and clear skin avoids spreading of bacteria and also worsening of acne. However, you must not wash your face more than three times in a day because it dries your skin.
2.Avoid excess extraction of blackheads and acne:Excessive pressure on the skin while extracting blackheads and acne may break the sebaceous follicles, that are full of microorganisms. This may spread the acne infection to other areas and it may lead to the formation of pustules which leave permanent scars.
3.Avoid acne causing foods:This entirely depends on the sensitivities and diet of a person. Detect the foods that trigger acne breakout and try to avoid those foods. Avoid deep fried and fatty foods. Although, there is no scientific connection between acne and food, you must know what stuff you must avoid to prevent acne.
A healthy diet and good nutritious food helps to develop healthy skin. If you have acne prone skin, avoid foods that are rich in iodine such as milk as they may cause acne. Try to stay away from dairy products.
4.Reduce the usage of cosmetics:Decrease the usage of cosmetics. Use products that are specially manufactured for acne-prone skin. Cosmetics with oil or greasy cosmetics may cause more pimples and blackheads as they clog the tiny ducts, leading to acne breakouts. You are advised to use water-based and non-comedogenic cosmetics to avoid acne breakouts. Also ensure that your make-up sponges/brushes are clean.
5.Usage of Topical Medications Benzoyl peroxide is the most common ingredient used in over the counter treatments for acne. It aids in eliminating bacteria from skin surface by penetrating into the follicles. This is very effective in treating moderate acne. Remember that this should not be used for long durations as it may cause irritation and peel of the skin.
6.Keep hands and hair away from the face:Ensure that you wash your hair frequently if it is long. Also, you may tie your hair up such that it does not touch the skin. Remember to wash your face after sweating excessively so that dirt does not accumulate in the pores. Also keep the hands away from the face as hands contain dirt and can easily trigger acne.
7.Avoid Toxic Environments:Humid and hot weather with lots of polluted air may accumulate dirt on the skin and block the pores. This results in acne breakouts. Avoid places with excess dirt and smoke in the air. Try to remove excess sweat from the skin and also try to stay in air-conditioned environments, whenever it is possible.
